When you’re rushed in the morning and trying to find a meaningful breakfast, what do you usually do? Grab a cereal bar and head out the door? I’d like to introduce you to my strawberry spinach smoothie. It tastes like summertime all year long. Even in those cold winter months. My strawberry banana spinach smoothie is a favorite for my family and my kids would have it every morning if I let them. Besides the smoothie’s brown color resembles chocolate.

Strawberry Spinach Smoothie

Taking some of nature’s ingredients and making a healthy spinach smoothie is the perfect way to pack in all the nutrients you need to start your day. We must remember how important it is to incorporate fruits and veggies into our diets on a regular basis. Every part of our health benefits from the vitamins and minerals that they contain. Take a look below!

Is there a good reason why Popeye loves spinach?

Spinach is the most popular leafy green because of the number of minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients that it carries. They were right when they said spinach was Popeye’s favorite food. It had to be with those muscles. Spinach aids in strengthening muscles, especially in your heart. This can prevent heart failure and hypertension. It also helps in bone mineralization, which can end up preventing osteoporosis. It reduces inflammation and even helps with fetal development.

What about strawberries?

Strawberries are full of good things for your body. Many people just see them as delicious and sugary fruit. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Besides the antioxidants in strawberries prevent clots from forming in the blood, meaning they can help prevent strokes. Eating strawberries can reduce dry eye symptoms or macular degeneration, as well. Vitamin C and folate are only a few of the flavonoids in the fruit, which can help fight cancer. They are the perfect fruit to add to your green smoothie recipe.

Why almond milk?

Coconut milk would be a better option for a creamy consistency. But it is higher in fat and not recommended for children as a source of fat.  If you are trying to cut back on fat, almond milk is a great option when making this smoothie. Almond milk helps repair damaged skin, helps maintain good kidney health and even boosts your immune system. Homemade is best for optimum health.
